Tips for Tackling Allergy Symptoms During the Spring

For many, the blooming of flowers and the budding of trees is a much-anticipated part of spring. But for allergy sufferers, it means sneezing, sniffling, and itchy, watery eyes. Luckily, there are ways to help combat even the most bothersome allergy symptoms. Here are a few!

Close your windows. Keep pollen where it belongs—outside!— by shutting your windows during peak pollen times. This includes the windows in your apartment, of course, but also your car. Download a pollen counter or allergy app for your phone or tablet to keep tabs on pollen counts.

Bathe before bedtime. This will help reduce the amount of pollen that comes in contact with your sheets. Also, pop an antihistamine before hitting the sack so that you can sleep soundly and avoid the daytime drowsiness that can occur when taking antihistamines in the morning.

Keep your home tidy. Avoid tracking pollen and other allergies throughout your apartment by removing your shoes in the door. Sweep and vacuum often, and wash your bedding at least once a week.
